Sometimes you'll pick something up expecting that one person made it only to find out someone else did. People have tried to copy mine and best of luck to them, because mine will ALWAYS be more badass than theirs. That's just how it is. Most of them just like my work and want to make something cool or really don't understand. If these people are trying to sell then they are heinous individuals and should be chased from town with flaming torches. Haters gon' hate. Crappy situation, good luck!
Haha first of all, you are fantastic, thank you. Your message made me smile! Second, thank you for reaching out, and your right, it’s going to happen… And can happen to anyone. But in the end, it will never be the same.
Spending 3 years developing a favored “style”, then having it ripped away from you via a year long follower on Instagram. I’m humbled for being an inspiration to another artist, but inspiration usually results in an artist putting their own twist on it, not directly replicating the form, all the way down to the same measurements and division of the design within the form.
I want to teach. I want to aid. I want to be excited about others work. But I’m still growing, more and more every day. My growing will never stop, but it breaks my heart to find cloned pots of my growth, and know that my work is not inspiring in the sense that it will send someone to a wheel to dream of bigger and better things, but only a visual aid of reference for replication.
I hope this is not me just being selfish. And this is just life. But my work is my life and passion.
You should not be making anyone’s work yours, you should be making it your own.
